Quasimorph Barter & Trade Guide: Economy & Profit Mechanics

Quasimorph has no universal fiat currency. You trade raw goods, looted weapons, and contraband directly with planetary corporations. If you trade like a scavenger, you will stay poor. If you understand trade volume scaling, reputation thresholds, and the 10,000+ credit bulk rule, you will equip your mercenaries with infinite endgame firepower.

Under The Hood

How Barter Value Is Calculated

Trading is governed by three interconnected variables: Base Value, Station Need Multiplier, and Corporate Reputation:

Effective Trade Credit Formula:

Final Credit = (Base Item Value × Station Need Index) × (1 + [Reputation / 100])

A high reputation doesn't just improve corporate sentiment—it acts as a direct multiplier on every crate of goods you deliver. At +50 reputation with RealWare, a crate of military electronics yields 50% more barter value than at neutral standing.

The Scavenger Trap

The 10,000 Credit Bulk Trade Rule

The single most common mistake made by new PMC commanders is trading after every single mission:

❌ Small Fragmented Trades (< 2,500 Credits)

  • Corporations offer low-tier consumer goods, standard pistol ammo, and canned food.
  • System rounding and trade friction swallow 15–25% of your asset value.
  • Never rolls high-tier armor sets (like Buffalo or Warlord pattern) in barter offers.

✅ Bulk Stockpile Trades (10,000+ Credits)

  • Triggers elite supply tables: heavy body armor, AP ammunition containers, rare tech blueprints.
  • Massive reputation gains in a single transaction.
  • Generates substantial account credit rollover that stays on the station for future visits.

The Critical Turning Point

What Happens at +25 Reputation

Before +25 reputation, the faction dictates what you receive: you dump your loot, and they give you an assortment of whatever surplus they have on hand. Reaching +25 Reputation completely changes the transaction model:

Unlocking Page 2: The Direct Purchase Catalog

Once you hit +25 with any faction, opening the Barter window displays an arrow leading to Screen 2. Here, the faction displays their complete inventory catalog. You can hand-pick:

  1. Specific high-caliber ammunition crates (e.g. 7.97 API or heavy shotgun slugs).
  2. Specialized class and item blueprint chips.
  3. Surgical kits, repair nanites, and pristine body armor.

If your traded goods exceed the cost of the items you select, the remaining balance is not lost—it converts into permanent station store credit!

Inventory Value Density

The 'Space Currency' Value Hierarchy

A clone's backpack has limited grid slots and weight limits. Prioritize items by Value per Grid Tile:

Tier Item Category Value per Slot Tactical Note
S TIER Cigarettes & Luxury Alcohol Extreme 1x1 slot, low weight. Factions pay staggering sums for vice goods in orbital isolation.
S TIER Data Chips & Blueprints Extreme 1x1 slot, negligible weight. Even duplicate chips fetch 1,500–4,000 trade value each.
A TIER Gold Bullion & Raw Electronics High Universal barter items. High trade value across all planetary factions without deficit decay.
B TIER Pristine Military Firearms Moderate High value, but consume 4–8 inventory tiles. Only extract if at 100% condition.
TRASH Broken Weapons & Ruined Armor Near Zero Heavy, bulky, worth 50–100 credits. Dismantle onboard the Magnum for scrap instead.

Planetary Macroeconomics

Using the In-Game Stock Exchange

Before launching a trading mission, press the Stock Exchange tab on the lower-left HUD:

Arbitrage and Deficit Exploitation

  • Surplus vs. Deficit: If a station is undergoing a famine or industrial blockade, food and medicine values spike by up to 300%.
  • Civil Resistance Buff (Patch 1.0.4): The Civil Resistance faction received significant economic balancing in Patch 1.0.4. Trading consumer electronics and weapons to their outposts now yields superior raw industrial material returns.
  • Tezctlan Anomaly: The demon-worshiping Tezctlan faction does not care about conventional luxury goods. They trade exclusively for Quasimorphic organs, cursed relics, and bio-matter.

Commerce FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I get terrible gear when bartering with factions?

Because you are likely making small, piecemeal trades (under 2,000 credits). Small trade volumes incur heavy exchange margins and only trigger Tier-1/Tier-2 junk tables. Saving goods for bulk trades above 10,000 credits unlocks military-grade weapon kits and blueprints.

What happens when my faction reputation reaches +25?

At +25 Reputation, you unlock the second screen of the barter interface. This allows you to specifically select the exact weapons, ammunition crates, and chips you want, rather than accepting random corporate surplus. Any remaining balance is credited to your station account.

What are the most valuable barter goods to loot?

Cigarettes, high-end Alcohol (Whiskey/Vodka), Gold Bullion, Class/Item Chips, and undamaged Electronic Components. These have the highest value-to-weight ratio in the game.

What does the 'Easy Barter' option in settings do?

Easy Barter simplifies the transaction UI, automatically balancing trade credit values so you don't have to manually match individual item values down to the single digit.
